Unregulated terms
"Eco", "sustainable", "ethical" and "conscious" have no agreed definition in jewellery. We do not use them as if they were specifications. Where we use them at all, we say immediately what we mean by them in that sentence.
Quantify or omit
If we cannot express a claim in a way a buyer could check — a percentage, a named standard, a named supplier — we leave it out rather than phrasing it vaguely.
Imagery
Photographs show the actual piece, including variation between hand-made items. We do not retouch out the irregularities that hand fabrication produces, because doing so misrepresents what arrives.
Comparisons
Where we compare recycled and mined silver we describe the difference at the extraction stage, which is where it exists, rather than implying a difference in the finished metal, which there is not.
What we do not publish
- Carbon figures we have not had calculated.
- Claims about the origin of aggregated recycled feedstock.
- Health claims about metals or stones.
- Supplier marketing language reproduced as our own assessment.
Review cycle
Materials pages are reviewed annually and whenever a supplier specification changes.
