Marta Ferrer trained in contemporary silversmithing in Barcelona and worked for several years in a shared workshop before founding Naturalesa.
Practice
She works primarily in fabrication rather than casting — cutting, forming and soldering sheet and wire by hand — which is slower and produces pieces that vary from one another. The Raiz line came out of a long interest in root and branch structures, and its asymmetry is deliberate.

- Recycled sterling silver and its behaviour at the bench compared with mined stock
- Oxidised surface finishes and how they wear over time
- Setting baroque freshwater pearls, which are irregular by nature
- Repair and alteration as an alternative to replacement
On sustainability claims
Marta's position, which shapes the writing on this site, is that most jewellery sustainability language is unfalsifiable and therefore worthless to a buyer. Where we make a claim we try to state what it would take to check it. Where we cannot substantiate something — such as the origin of aggregated recycled feedstock — we say so plainly on the materials page.
Exhibitions and craft
She exhibits occasionally at contemporary silversmithing shows in Spain, most recently in Madrid, and takes commissions where the piece suits hand fabrication.
